Vince McMahon/William Regal Segment We open No Mercy
kind of like we typically open RAW, with Vince McMahon coming
to the ring, this time with William Regal. Vince recapitulates
the John Cena injury situation and says he will be out for
approximately a year. He says that he will guarantee that
tonight there will be a new WWE Champion. Vince says that
he’s going to give the people what they want. Fans chant,
“Y-2-J.” Vince says that he won’t give them that. He then
says that he presents to the people the new WWE Champion,
Randy Orton. Out comes Orton. Vince hands him the belt and
he raises it up in celebration. William Regal congratulates
Orton on becoming new champion, and reminds him he must defend
tonight, but offers Randy the option of selecting his own
opponent. Fans chant, “Y2J.” Orton says he knows he won’t
be defending against John Cena, and then goes on to say that
it’s a good thing he can’t compete because it saves him embarrassment
of being defeated. Orton says nobody deserves this more than
he does. He says nobody comes anywhere near…..Enter Triple
H. Hunter challenges Orton to a match right now. Orton says
no. Triple H addresses Vince, saying that if he’s going to
say he gives the fans what they want, the obviously want this
match, so he suggests Vince should allow the match. Triple
H then tries to play on Vince’s manhood, saying he won’t do
it because he’s a gutless, spineless coward. Vince gets infuriated
and says he’s on, and the match is going to happen right now.
