We open with a recap of the key matches at Cyber Sunday, topped by the Batista-Undertaker match. In the ring, the World champion is the first man out, and, in a quiet, humble voice, likens his experience in WWE to his rough childhood in Washington. The way he sees it, discounting the last two matches he had with UT prior to Cyber Sunday, the score is even at 1-1 between them. He has Taker's back in their tag main event vs. Mark Henry & Great Khali later, but wonders if the Deadman has his? The gong sounds, and Undertaker magically appears. He does have Batista's back, only because he wants another shot. Batista grants him that request, only to be told it will be Hell in a Cell. We'd later learn that it's set for Survivor Series. Backstage, Jamie Noble is reading the WWE Magazine's 500th issue when he sees Vicki Guerrero coming down the hall. He rambles & rants about the mismatches he's gotten into the last three weeks, but Vicki has a peace offering---the Rey Mysterio DVD set, because Rey is Jamie's opponent. Noble's happy to finally face someone his own size.....
Match 1: Domino (w/Deuce & Cherry) vs. Festus (w/Jesse) Now we get to see what this refugee from "Of Mice & Men" can do as a solo act. Pretty well, as a matter of fact. Domino doesn't seem to have an answer for him, and Deuce isn't much help. Near the end of the match, Deuce has an idea about getting involved, but Jesse intercepts and cuts him off with a forearm shiver, springing off the steps. Festus hits a flapjack, and then a version of the F5 to end it. Winner: Festus. Diva Search recap. Given what's happened in recent days, I think I know where Eve Torres, this year's winner could end up, and it may involve last year's winner, Layla El, now with Extreme Expose.
Match 2: Rey Mysterio vs. Jamie Noble This, friends, is the match of the night. Mysterio & Noble have battled many times before, so the pace should be fast. Finlay comes down to "scout" Mysterio, whom he meets again next week. JBL, naturally, is singing the praises of the Fighting Irishman. In a key point in the match, Mysterio hits a head-scissors into a Fujiwara armbar submission. Noble works his way out by sending Rey shoulder-first into the post. It's only a matter of time, however, before Rey dials up 619. He goes for the West Coast Pop, which we haven't seen in, like, forever, but Noble blocks and tries a tigerbomb. Rey counters and hits the Pop after all. Winner: Rey Mysterio. Post-match, Finlay cuts a promo for next week's match, ripping Rey for having quit a year ago (vs. Chavo Guerrero), for being weak, soft, & fearful. Raw's Jon Coachman has challenged LI native Mick Foley. On Smackdown. Yeah, I know, it's all about what happened Monday, but the Raw Rebound is the same one that ran on Tuesday. MVP & Matt Hardy are backstage. Matt will be back in action next week, and acts like he's finally down with the pompous US champion's program. Porter claims he not only survived vs. Kane at Cyber Sunday, he thrived. Oh, really? Well, guess who his opponent tonight is? MVP claims he's got a photo shoot, but in truth, he has a rematch with Kane. Next!
Match 3: MVP vs. Kane (non-title) A year ago, Montel Porter was given a baptism by fire---literally---during his initial feud with Kane. He escaped Cyber Sunday with the US title intact by weaseling out of his title defense vs. Big Red, losing via countout. Porter has proven he can hang with the likes of Kane, as long as he loses the prima donna posturing that goes with his gimmick. Each man employed a body scissors early on, looking for submissions, but getting none. Porter even went to a modified abdominal stretch from a kneeling position, but Kane powered out. Near the end of the match, Big Daddy V & Matt Striker came out, getting Kane's attention. Porter tried to capitalize, but instead ran right into the chokeslam. Ballgame. Winner: Kane. Just as the bell sounded, BDV hit the ring and pulverized Kane, leaving him lying after a Ghetto (Samoan) Drop.
Match 4: Jonathan Coachman vs. Mick Foley Since we're in Long Island, Foley Country, Coach decided he wasn't waiting until next Monday's Raw in Los Angeles to settle his issue with Foley. Justin Roberts announced that the guest ref was "Mr. McMahon". No, not Vince. Not Shane. Hornswoggle. Mick & 'Swoggle are simply trading places from Monday's comedy match, and it's more of the same. However, this one is a total squash, as Coach gets absolutely zero offense in. 'Swoggle, making his return to Smackdown for the first time since being stripped of the Cruiserweight title, got his shots in, too, including the tadpole splash after Mick had laid out Coach with the mandible claw. Like it said on the back of Coach's shirt, "Enough said". Winner: Mick Foley.
ECW champion CM Punk's video package plays, and we learn that he'll be on Smackdown next week. Another NYC product, Twisted Sister frontman-turned-radio personality Dee Snider, is in the house, along with bandmate Jay Jay French.
Match 5: Chuck Palumbo (w/Michelle McCool) vs. Kenny Dykstra (w/Victoria) For one thing, Victoria has to be happy to finally be out of that sumo suit she had to wear for 2 nights. With Chris Masters on the disabled list, Dykstra, 0-Smackdown since coming over in June, gets another crack at Palumbo. Unfortunately, the result is the same. Nothing Dykstra tries works. Victoria tries to provide a distraction as Chuck goes up top, but Michelle knocks her off the apron. Palumbo blocks the superplex, then blasts Dykstra with a mammoth shoulder block off the top. One Full Throttle later, and it's over. Winner: Chuck Palumbo. Footage is shown of Rey Mysterio at a Washington, DC Best Buy last week to sign copies of his DVD. Great Khali, Runjin Singh, & Mark Henry are backstage. As Singh interprets the Punjabi Giant's babbling, Undertaker & Batista are already divided, what with Hell in a Cell coming up, and Singh foresees victory. We'll see about that.
Match 6: Undertaker & Batista vs. Mark Henry & Great Khali (w/Runjin Singh) Michael Cole wonders if the ring will be reinforced, considering that there's over 1400 pounds of humanity competing in the match. Three nights ago, Henry & Khali were competing against each other in a battle royal won by Henry. Now, they're tagging up, united against mutual enemies. Early on, Henry is treated as though he's getting squashed, as Undertaker & Batista have the advantage. However, after a commercial break, the momentum shifts over to the other side, as Henry finds his 2nd wind and rams Taker into his corner, tagging in Khali. He'd repeat this sequence with Batista a few minutes later. Khali had the vise grip locked on Batista, but Taker saved, leading to hot tags on both sides. Taker began pounding both Khali & Henry into a fare thee well. He tried a double chokeslam, but that was blocked. Trying to chokeslam more than 800 pounds at once is nigh impossible as it is. Batista came in and hit the spinebuster on Henry as UT hit a boot to the head of Khali. They set up for a Batista Bomb and a chokeslam when JBL left the desk and hit Batista with the clothesline from hell, prompting ref Charles Robinson to call for the bell. Layfield then low blowed Taker, and that allowed Khali to apply the vise grip on UT while Henry trapped Batista in the bear hug while JBL went back to the desk and cut a promo. Folks, the 10 Gallon Blowhard is bracing for a comeback, even if he's not admitting to it just yet. Winners: Undertaker & Batista via DQ.
