Tonight's show opens with Mr. Kennedy, who did what he set
out to do and won the Money in the Bank ladder match at
Wrestlemania. Footage is shown of the match, including a
Green Bay Plunge off the ladder to Hornswoggle, who tried
to help Finlay. Kennedy now wants to be known as Mr. Money
in the Bank. However, it seems as though there's still someone
from that match that wants a piece of him......
Teddy Long is sharing a tender moment with Kristal, who
gives him a card. Awwwwwww. Kennedy comes in and demands
a match----with Hornswoggle. Long grants it for next week,
but hooks Kennedy with a swerve and makes it a handicap.
Kennedy vs. Hornswoggle & Finlay. Crowd popped for the
Fighting Irishman, so a face turn may be nigh. Meanwhile,
Timbaland completes his tour of Planet WWE this week by
meeting with Ashley. Jillian Hall shows up and tries to
curry favor with the rapper-producer by auditioning a song
she supposedly wrote. Looked like she and Timbaland were
both doing the Carlton Banks dance for a second, but that
wasn't the case. Ashley & Timbaland left together, unimpressed
with Jillian.
Chris Benoit vs. Mike Mizanin (Non-title).
This just in. JBL still hates the Miz. Calls him a rodeo
clown. Benoit & Mizanin have collectively had a grand
total of 2 matches in the last six weeks. Benoit was in
both of those matches. However, Miz has something to prove,
and turns in a very strong showing, his best effort to date.
Turning point comes when Benoit sets up for the Air Canada,
but Montel Porter, hiding at ringside, pulls Miz out of
the line of fire. Benoit crashes & burns, and Miz crawls
over for the cover, unaware of the help he got. Clearly,
the Most Vacuous Poser isn't done with Benoit despite losing
at Wrestlemania. Some guys just don't get it. Winner: Mike
Mizanin.
The same clips we've seen all week for Wrestlemania, "The
Condemned", and the Hall of Fame are being shown----again.
We also get a vidpack telling us that Mark Henry is on his
way back. Latest word is that Henry packed on some pounds
while recovering from his injury.
Queen Sharmell claims she was violated by Matt Hardy at
Wrestlemania, so let's take one more look at Money in the
Bank. The drama queen illegally entered the ring and nearly
paid for it. Matt had her set for the Twist of Fate just
as King Booker was about to claim the briefcase, and forced
the former champion to make a decision, one that would ultimately
change the course of the match in favor of Mr. Kennedy.
None of this would've happened if Sharmell didn't get into
the ring.
King Booker vs. Matt Hardy. Just like Jeff's
match vs. Kennedy earlier, this one's a dandy. Where Kennedy
& Jeff Hardy were similar in height and size, Matt is
giving away a few inches to Booker. Doesn't matter in the
final analysis, as Matt goes step for step with Booker.
Sharmell gets in a slap, and a lame one at that. Matt countered
a BookEnd into a Side Effect for 2. He kept trying for the
Twist, but couldn't connect. Booker missed the axe kick,
and tried to counter the Twist into a backslide, but Matt
countered that into a small package and got the win. Winner:
Matt Hardy. Post-match, Sharmell confronted her husband,
upset over the loss, and walked out. He tried to reconcile
things backstage, but she gave him a harder slap than the
one Matt got.
Kane vs. Dave Taylor (w/William Regal).
The match never got started. The Brits went after Big Red
on the floor with some serious clubberin', to use a Dusty
Rhodes term, and even threw in a chair. Kane beat them both
down, tossed Regal over the barrier and into the front row,
then sent Taylor over the announce table. Winner: None.
Brian Kendrick & Paul London (w/Ashley) vs.
Gregory Helms & Chavo Guerrero (non-title).
Deuce & Domino have dealt themselves right back into
the title hunt. They're on the ramp watching the match from
the safety of their convertible, which bears the license
plate, "Purdue Thunder". Cherry's looking pretty
fine herself. Another great match, best on the show. Helms
& Guerrero have held the tag titles before, but with
other partners, and looked like a pretty cohesive unit.
The champs did a double suicide dive before the commercial,
but the heel team took over during the break. The finish
to this match will be highlight reel material for the rest
of the year. Somehow, someway, the champions hit a combination
electric chair suplex and Sliced Bread #2 on Helms, and
London collected the fall. Winners: Brian Kendrick &
Paul London. After the break, it was announced that Deuce
& Domino would get a title match next week vs. London
& Kendrick. We're also treated to a video montage of
all 15 of Undertaker's wins at Wrestlemania.
The Deadman gets the same entrance he had on Sunday, with
the druids on either side of the ramp lighting his path.
He's ready to speak, but Batista shows up, and cuts the
shortest promo of his career. He congratulates the new champ,
and wants his rematch. Wish granted. Batista is barely back
up the ramp before Booker is back out, attacking the champion.
Big mistake. Undertaker clears the monitors off the announce
table, then proceeds to tombstone Booker onto the table,
which doesn't break. As the champion leaves, EMTs and Sharmell
attend to Booker. They may be doing a slow, gradual transition
toward turning Booker back face. |
