After a recap of last week's main event, our show begins with Mr. Kennedy, gloating about his title opportunity at the Royal Rumble. Teddy Long comes out, and says that Kennedy will face Undertaker in the main event. If Undertaker wins, he's added to the World title match at the PPV.

Matt Hardy vs. Joey Mercury. Mercury's 1st match back after Armageddon. Too short, but a decent opener. Hardy hit the side effect for a 2. Finish saw Hardy attempt the Twist of Fate, but Mercury countered and went for the Rodeo Driver (double-arm DDT), but Hardy countered that and scooped out the legs, then flipped over for the pin.Winner: Matt Hardy.Post-match, Johnny Nitro & Melina showed up, and Nitro attacked Hardy. They laid out Hardy after an enziguri by Nitro, then they pulled out some of the padding and hit the Snapshot on the floor.

Kristal is attempting to interview Vicki Guerrero, but she wants to talk to Kristal off the record, and invites her into her quarters. Mike Mizanin is trying to sell Ashley & Layla the tall tale of his effort vs. Undertaker last week. Kane shows up, and the camera wisely zooms in on Miz .

MVP, William Regal, & Dave Taylor vs. Brian Kendrick, Paul London, & Vito (w/Ashley).Standard 6-man fare. Heels got heat on Vito for much of the match, until a hot tag to Kendrick, who rained forearm shivers all over the joint. Finish saw MVP & Kendrick legal, but Regal was running interference. Kendrick went for Sliced Bread #2 on Regal, who passed him off to MVP, who hit the Emerald Fusion (Finlay's Celtic Cross) for the win.Winners: MVP, Regal & Taylor.

Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero [ United States Championship Match, No DQ] Benoit's music plays just before Tony Chimel can finish explaining the stipulations, which was funny. Chavo introduced a chair into the match, which both men used. Chavo worked on Benoit's shoulder, hoping to eliminate the Crippler Crossface, but he forgot about the Sharpshooter. Chavo has the chair in one hand, but before he can use it, he taps, as the pain is just that intense.Winner: Chris Benoit.

Deuce & Domino (w/Cherry) vs. Adam Roberts & Patrick Bentley.
Total squash. The rent-a-jobbers were never identified. Deuce & Domino spent more time introducing themselves than beating up the scrubs. Winners: Deuce & Domino.

Jillian Hall convinces Kennedy to meet with Teddy Long, claiming the GM had screwed over Kennedy. The meeting goes nowhere. Long later is propositioned by Kristal for a dinner date (I think), then has King Booker & Queen Sharmell in his office. A 6-man over the top mini-battle royal, involving Booker, is on tap for next week.

Kane vs. Mike Mizanin.Total squash #2. I don't think Miz got any offense in at all, and Kane finished the job Undertaker started last week. Miz has completed a rare trifecta, in that he's been in the ring with all three of WWE's supernatural characters. Kane chokeslammed Miz to end it.Winner: Kane.

Undertaker vs. Mr. Kennedy. Batista came out to a phat pop. I think GQ may be calling him about doing their cover real soon. Kennedy employed defensive strategy, using a low dropkick to cut UT's legs out from under him, but it didn't last. When all else failed, Kennedy decided to use the one weapon you didn't think he had. He slapped Batista, and baited the champion into the ring. As Undertaker had Kennedy set for the chokeslam, Batista speared Kennedy, prompting ref Nick Patrick to ring the bell Winner: Mr. Kennedy via DQ. Undertaker wasn't too thrilled with the result, and the resentment may be starting to build toward the champion, albeit rather slowly......
