Finlay vs. Matt Hardy. Before the match,
Mr. Kennedy is interviewed, and claims to be confident that
his time of 5:07 will hold up. Lots of quick near falls throughout
the match. Little Bastard got involved, and Matt actually
got a hold of him, but ref Charles Robinson separated them,
allowing Finlay to use the shillelagh on the knee to get a
near fall. Finlay locked in an Indian Death Lock, hoping for
a late submission, but Matt held on until time expired. Post-match,
Joey Mercury, now sporting a faceguard because of his broken
nose, attacked Hardy with Finlay still applying the submission
hold. Mercury then put a chair around Matt's head, intent
on crippling Hardy, but other refs and officials cut him off.
Winner: None. Time limit draw at 5:07.
Kristal gets in a quick interview with Mercury, who says he
won't stop until Hardy is disfigured worse than he is.
Mr. Kennedy vs. Chris Benoit. Easily the
best match on the show. Kennedy has gotten his groove back
the last two weeks working with Benoit after having MVP hanging
like an albatross on his back the last couple of months. Benoit
hit 3 sets of rolling German suplexes, a total of 10 in all.
Kennedy hit the ground level version of the Green Bay Plunge
for a near fall, but missed the Kenton Bomb. Chavo Guerrero
came out halfway to do commentary, and got involved at the
end. Benoit applied the Sharpshooter. Chavo got on the apron,
drawing Benoit's attention. Benoit throws Chavo in and goes
for the Sharpshooter. Kennedy schoolboys Benoit and grabs
the tights to beat Benoit for the 2nd straight week.Winner:
Mr. Kennedy.
Brian Kendrick & Paul London (w/Ashley Massaro)
vs. William Regal & Dave Taylor [WWE Tag Team Championship
Match] .This was the match they were supposed to
have had at Armageddon last month, only for it to be changed
to a ladder match at the last minute. Heels dominated the
match throughout, and JBL couldn't stop putting both teams
over. Kendrick gets the hot tag and just goes off on the British
team. London engages Taylor on the floor, and Kendrick scores
the pin with a backslide on Regal. Winners: Brian Kendrick
& Paul London.
MVP vs. Vito. As much as JBL was marking
out in the last match, he was incensed that MVP drew Vito
as an opponent. Well, it might've been worse. It could've
been Boogeyman. JBL tried putting over MVP as a hero for competing
despite the "burns" from Armageddon. Lots of near
falls here, too, most of them by Vito, and despite MVP getting
a series of near falls in the final minute, it wasn't enough.
Like Tatanka last week, MVP attacked Vito after the time limit
expired, but was left lying on the floor after Vito reversed
a whip and MVP was introduced to the ring steps.Winner: None.
Time limit draw at 5:07.
Kristal interviews Batista. "The Animal" puts over
Kennedy having beaten 6 world champions, himself included,
but said it'd be a first for him facing Undertaker, who's
in tonight's final Beat the Clock match......We find out that
it'll be Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit for the US title----again---next
week, this time in a No-DQ match.
Undertaker vs. Miz. JBL's loving this, because
he can't stand Miz. Unfortunately, Kennedy decided to spoil
the party by getting involved. Ref Jim Corderas was bumped
down with about a minute left, and that proved costly to the
Deadman, who came up :01 short on the Tombstone. It'll be
Kennedy vs. Batista at the Rumble.Winner: None. Time limit
draw at 5:07. |
