TV Rating

We open with Ric Flair, visiting for the evening. Tazz greets him, and talks about how when he started in 1986, Flair's name was the one that carried the most respect around the business. He hands over the mic to Flair, who then talks about his pending induction into the WWE Hall of Fame next month.

Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin, coming out separately, interrupt Flair. Burke puts over that he, like so many others, was a fan of the Nature Boy growing up, and brings up his now-defunct New Breed faction. Poor continuity there. Benjamin put over Flair as the "gold standard", but that he himself is the new gold standard, and Flair's time is over. Flair cuts a promo on the two, cut off when Benjamin slaps him. They double on Flair until CM Punk comes down to make the save, setting up a likely main event.

Back from break, Benjamin & Burke are trying to delegate blame away from themselves for what had happened. As expected, Armando Estrada makes the main event tag team match.

Match 1: Kofi Kingston vs. Jason Riggs Squashola. Oh, Riggs did get token offense in, but his best move was a headlock. A hair takedown proves fatal, as Kofi nips up, and takes control. Reverse leap frog sets up the Jamaican Buzzsaw. Winner: Kofi Kingston.

Post-match, Kofi is interviewed briefly by Joey Styles.

Raw Rebound: Hornswoggle's steel cage nightmare, thanks to JBL. Joey tells us that 'Swoggle might have some "bleeding" in his brain. That means the former cruiser champ's going to be gone for a while.

Match 2: Colin Delaney (w/Tommy Dreamer) vs. Mike Mizanin (w/John Morrison) Squashola #2. This was outright bad. Delaney, like Riggs before him, got token offense in, but his rally was snuffed when Morrison tripped him from the outside. Ref Mike Posey put 2 and 2 together, and threw Morrison out of the arena. However, Morrison never even made it all the way up the ramp before Miz finished off Delaney with the Reality Check. Winner: Mike Mizanin.

Post-match, Morrison returns, and as Miz mixes it up with Dreamer, they double on Tommy, and then destroy Colin again. Posey could've called for a reverse decision and DQ Miz for the post-match foolishness.

Footage is shown of the Maria-Beth Phoenix match from Raw, which "secured" Maria's Playboy layout. Kelly Kelly is interviewed backstage, and auditions, if you will, to possibly have the honor next year.

Match 3: Stevie Richards vs. James Curtis Curtis is still looking for his first win since returning to WWE, although he is also the OVW TV champion. Unfortunately, this isn't the night. Pretty much the same formula as the last two matches, as Curtis got a minimal amount of offense in before Stevie peppered him with a series of kicks before finishing Curtis with the Stevie-T (double underhook implant DDT). Winner: Stevie Richards.

This is the official Raw Rebound, not the steel cage replay we saw earlier: Big Show and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. meet on Raw.

Match 4: CM Punk & Ric Flair vs. Elijah Burke & Shelton Benjamin Despite the fact that he was the one who introduced Benjamin to the land of extreme, this is the first time that Burke has tagged with Shelton since the self-proclaimed "gold standard" moved over from Raw. Likewise, this is the first time Flair & Punk have tagged together. Naturally, this is the best match on the show. Punk started with his favorite patsy, Burke, then tagged in Flair. After the commercial, they got heat on Flair and tried to pick up where Mr. Kennedy left off at No Way Out, working on the left knee of Flair. However, Flair was able to tag out to Punk. Not quite the hot tag you'd expect, as Benjamin blocked the bulldog. He tried his running powerbomb to the corner, but instead dumped Punk over the top. Benjamin tried a 2nd time, but Punk countered and hit a standing enziguri, then hot-tagged back to Flair. Flair set up a suplex on Burke, but Benjamin blocked with a chop block. Burke only got 2, while Punk cleared out Benjamin. Burke set up for the Elijah Express, but Flair moved and Burke's knees met the top turnbuckle. From there, it was academic, as Flair applied the figure four, and Burke submitted, arms flailing, old school style. Winners: CM Punk & Ric Flair.
