ODB & Tessmacher def. Rosita & Sarita
A very good opening match got the crowd into things right away. ODB was over with the crowd, with a loud “ODB!’ chant resonating throughout the building before the bell actually rang. I expected things to be a little quiet at first, with the AFC Championship game between the the hometown New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens still being played, but fans in Lowell were ready for TNA.
Robbie E def. Garrett Bischoff
Robbie T accompanied Robbie E to the ring, including pulling the VIP rope for him. Robbie told Bischoff he’d let him walk away because he “doesn’t deserve” to be in the ring with him. But Bischoff stood toe-to-toe with the TNA Television Champion.
Three-Way Dance
Shannon Moore def. Jesse Sorensen & Kid Kash
Very entertaining match. Kash controlled a big chunk of the match with Moore down on the outside, including making almost everyone in the crowd wince as he chopped Sorensen in the corner. After a spot where Kash and the referee were fighting over one of Sorensen’s footballs, Moore came in and scored the pinfall.
Eric Young def. D’Angelo Dinero
Young began the match by locking up with the referee, shooting him off the ropes and then a leapfrog by the official actually brought most of the crowd to its feet chanting “ref-er-ee! (clap clap, clap clap clap)” … A very entertaining and fast paced match ended with Young scoring the pinfall win.
Rob Van Dam & Mr. Anderson def. Mexican America
Mr. Anderson is, for my money, one of the best in the business today. I’ll never understand how WWE missed the boat on him. I seem a perfect combination of Steve Austin and The Rock in him. I know, that’s tremendous praise, but he has oozes that charisma and can put on a heck of a performance in the ring. You don’t see that very often.
Anyway, RVD and Anderson win after a RVD frogsplash. Prematch, Anderson raised his hand to grab the microphone that would drop from the ceiling, only, it obviously didn’t. So, So Cal Val, our ring announcer, came into the ring with a chair and dropped a mic into Anderson’s hands for him to introduce himself. Anderson introduced himself as “MIIIIIISSSTTTTEEERRRRR KEEEENNN …. ANDERSON!”
Jeff Hardy def. Christopher Daniels
Rumors that Hardy may have been injured on Friday in Worcester appear to be true, but I’d doubt that it’s serious. Hardy worked a full match (around 15 minutes) with Daniels, doing all of the normal Hardy spots except a Swanton.
