Superstars opens with a pair of Smackdown brand matches.
1. Heath Slater vs. Justin Gabriel.
Rematch from a recent Smackdown. Since then, Slater's finally found his way to the winner's circle, picking up wins on NXT: Redemption, but hasn't figured out a way to beat his former partner, Gabriel. Slater used a couple of different neckbreakers to gain near falls, but all he did was prolong the inevitable. On the 4th try, Gabriel hit the 450, and Slater's going back to sound check. Winner: Justin Gabriel.
2. Yoshi Tatsu vs. Johnny Curtis.
It must suck to be Curtis, the NXT season 4 winner. After all the build-up on Smackdown, he was squashed by Mark Henry, and hasn't recovered. He went back to NXT, where the Redemption series is now seemingly open-ended, and, based on this match, he isn't really ready for prime time just yet. He let Tatsu off the hook one time too many, and Yoshi KO'd him with the standing buzzkick to the head. Winner: Yoshi Tatsu.
Matt Striker gives way to Scott Stanford, and Tony Chimel likewise turns over the ring announcing to Justin Roberts.
3. Non-title: Primo & Epico Colon (w/Rosa Mendes) vs. JTG & Michael McGillicutty.
Of the four, JTG is the only one who's never had a title. McGillicutty & Primo started. The acrobatic Primo's showboating merits a kiss from Rosa, kind of appropriate with Valentine's Day around the corner, and then the Costa Rican hops up on the apron for a quick distraction. When JTG finally gets in, the match is pretty much over. A blind tag allows Primo to slip in a quick, high backstabber, and that ends it. Winners: Primo & Epico Colon.
4. Non-title: Jack Swagger (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Santino Marella.
You'd think they'd start building up challengers for Swagger and his ill-gained US title, but not here. Marella, you'd also think, would like a piece of payback for Swagger interfering in a match vs. Dolph Ziggler on Raw a few months back when Ziggler was the champion. Not here, either. Santino had his moments, but the Cobra was defanged, and Swagger ends it quickly with the anklelock. Winner: Jack Swagger.
