Season 3 begins tonight, and already there's controversy, courtesy of----who else?----Vickie Guerrero. Aloisia, introduced last week, was "fired" by the power-crazed widow, but the real reason is that they couldn't risk rushing Aloisia, who had only been signed 2 weeks ago. In her place is Kaitlyn, who's already in trouble.

The rookies & pros are assembled in the ring so that the rookies can introduce themselves. Vickie made Kaitlyn do her intro twice, which made little sense, but it sets the tone for what's to come. I don't see Kaitlyn lasting very long unless she can perform in the ring, something Vickie can't do too well. Aksana & Goldust blow kisses to each other. You can tell 'Dust is smitten. Unsurprisingly, Michael Cole claims to be tight with Vickie. You could see that coming a mile away. It's going to be 12 weeks, with only the first month on SyFy, unless a new deal is reached before October 1. Beyond that point, NXT will move to another network, and the first elimination will be in week 5.

Now, it's time for some comedy in the form of a rookie diva dance-off. Cole, Tony Chimel, & Josh Mathews take turns on the "dance floor", each with two contestants. Naomi Night, the FCW Diva champ, wins via fan vote, but then, being a former Orlando Magic dancer works in her favor. Unfortunately, Cole is taking credit. He's been hanging around Miz too long.......

1. Naomi Night & Kelly Kelly vs. Alicia Fox & Maxine.

Fairly short match, which doesn't give the rookies much chance to demonstrate what they can do. Naomi rolled up Maxine, with Kelly cutting off Alicia at the 3. However, the rookies didn't realize the match was over, and there was a little "dead air" right at the end. Tony Chimel missed his cue, which led to some more teasing from Cole & Josh. Winners: Naomi Night & Kelly Kelly.

Next up is a "capture the flag" race, the 2nd rookie challenge of the evening. As Matt revealed earlier, whomever has won the most challenges by the first elimination in week 5 will earn immunity. Jamie, AJ, Aksana, Kaitlyn, & Maxine were eliminated in that order, meaning Naomi has won again.

Naomi's night is over (pardon the pun), but now we're looking again at a preview for "Legendary", opening on Friday in select areas.

2. AJ Lee & Primo vs. Goldust & Aksana.

The pros have been perfect gentlemen all night with their rookies, and, as a show of affection, Goldust kisses Aksana on the hand. Goldust & Primo start. Good chain wrestling from the guys, but the girls soon take over, and it ends abruptly, again, as AJ hits a bulldog out of a wheelbarrow suplex attempt, a page from Rey Mysterio's playbook. Winners: AJ Lee & Primo.

The post-match celebration is cut short as Vickie is back out with Kaitlyn, demanding that the rookie cut her promo a 3rd time. Primo & AJ will have none of that, and maybe creative should take the hint, because Vickie clearly doesn't belong, and Cole comparing her to college basketball icon Pat Summitt is an insult to the Tennessee women's basketball coach. Vickie orders Kaitlyn to go after AJ, who promptly shoves Kaitlyn into Vickie. Uh-oh! This shouldn't even be a place for the power-mad Vickie to throw her weight around, but she is a bigger pain in the neck than Miz........
