The momentous 900th episode opens with Bret Hart, playing corporate cheerleader for a change. Bret notes that he & Undertaker are the only ones on the active roster who were there at the very beginning of Raw, back in January 1993. Kane comes out, and cuts a promo. More of the same gloating over Undertaker. Seeing as how the Dead Man retired Shawn Michaels, Kane decides he'll do the same with Bret. Kane attacks Bret. The Hart Dynasty try to help, but are quickly fended off. The lights go out, and the Undertaker appears. Kane bails, and the GM makes UT-Hart for later.

1. Kaval & Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty vs. The Miz & Alex Riley.

Triple threat NXT showcase match to start the in-ring action. Since Kaval has LayCool for pros, he needed a partner, since the girls are in action later. Enter Bryan, who has his issues with the US champ. Bryan, Kaval, & Kingston were in most of the way. Miz gets a hot tag, but is quickly sent to the floor. Kaval hits the Warrior's Way, but before he can move in to pin McGillicutty, Miz rushes in with the Skull Crushing Finale. Winners: The Miz & Alex Riley.

Post-match, Riley detains Bryan long enough for Miz to get a cheap shot in with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

2. Team LayCool (Michelle McCool & Layla) vs. Eve Torres & Melina.

Eve never got into the match, as this felt rushed more than sloppy. Melina forced a collision between the drama queens, then schoolgirled Layla. Winners: Eve Torres & Melina.

After, LayCool made their proposal, and it was just what you'd think. A unification match at Night of Champions on Sept. 19. Melina accepts, but it's going to be a lumberjill match. The rest of the Divas join Melina & Eve on the stage.

Nexus is backstage. Michael Tarver notes that Skip Sheffield is on the DL with an ankle injury, and claims people think Nexus is now vulnerable. Wade Barrett disagrees, and plans to prove it in tonight's elimination tag main event......

Speaking of said main event, Chris Jericho says he's so confident in his abilities that if he doesn't win the title at Night of Champions, he's leaving.

3. John Morrison & R-Truth vs. Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre.

#1 contender's match to determine the next challengers for the Hart Dynasty's tag titles.

Rhodes & McIntyre have recently formed a team on Smackdown, but it's their first match together. Rhodes, though, has 3 tag titles to his credit. Morrison & Truth were on the doorstep of the gold back at Wrestlemania, and a win here could vault them back to a title match. Unfortunately, it's not in the cards. The two teams are brawling almost from the go, and that forces the ref to throw the match out. Winner: None.

4. Undertaker vs. Bret Hart.

These two had many legendary battles in the 90's, but time has taken its toll on both men. The announcers reference the last meeting of note between the Dead Man & the Hitman, at Summerslam '97. However, the match never starts. Wade Barrett comes out and goes right after Undertaker, who promptly sends him packing. That elicits a "Whoa!" from Hart. Then, the gong rings again. Hart is gone, and in his place is Kane. A brief struggle brings another gong, and Kane is gone. Nexus regroups, and one more set of gongs results in UT being the latest victim, as somehow, some way, Barrett has UT up, and hits Wasteland. Justin Gabriel tacks on a 450 splash as Kane watches approvingly from the stage. The idea, clearly, is that Kane has stolen some of his brother's powers......

5. Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne.

How many times did we see this match during Swagger's tenure on Raw? Plenty. However, this time is a little different as Smackdown's newest superstar, Alberto Del Rio shows up and takes the focus away from the match and onto himself. They go to a split-screen so we can see the match as it progresses. Bourne goes for the shooting star, but Swagger slides out of the way. Bourne lands standing up. Chop block, anklelock, good night. Winner: Jack Swagger.

Post-match, Del Rio cuts a promo bragging about what he did to Rey Mysterio, and plans to do the same to Bourne because, in his opinion, the Raw audience didn't see his actions. Bourne has to suffer through the cross-armbreaker, and after Cole had been praising Del Rio, he now takes a more serious, neutral tone. Mark Henry makes the save and sends Del Rio running.

CM Punk is out next with Luke Gallows & Joseph Mercury. Punk presents 4 examples of Raw's history of decadent behavior, including HHH invading Randy Orton's "home", John Cena throwing Edge in the river, DX invading WCW, and Stone Cold's famous beer bath of Vince McMahon. Punk then teases Austin coming out by playing the Rattlesnake's theme and has a few laughs. He then queues up the Imploding Ring (Smackdown 2003). Big Show comes out, insulted over a weak fat joke at his expense. He does a quick Hulk Hogan impression and mocks the Straight Edge Society. Punk isn't digging, but Show chases him and Mercury out of the ring, then throttles Gallows for the 2nd time in 4 days.

Sheamus is on the stage. He talks about Triple H not being a part of the festivities, and again claims the Cerebral Assassin, who just became a father for the 3rd time last week, will never wrestle again. Yeah, right, fella. Sheamus complains about tagging with Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, John Cena, & Edge in the main event, and claims discrimination. Edge is out, and says that despite everything done to him over the 12 years he's been with WWE, he's given it back three times over. Edge is headed to the ring, as our main event is next.

6. Nexus vs. Sheamus, Edge, Randy Orton, John Cena, & Chris Jericho.

For all of his talk about retiring if he doesn't win the WWE title, and all the times he's degraded the fans by calling them hypocrites, Jericho again let his ego get in the way, and let himself be counted out. Edge followed with an intentional DQ by shoving Charles Robinson. That meant John Cena would lock up with Michael Tarver with his team already down 2. Sheamus was next to go, pinned by Heath Slater. Cena reentered and dismissed Slater with the Attitude Adjustment. David Otunga tapped to the STF, but Cena was eliminated by Justin Gabriel with the 450, leaving Randy Orton to shoulder the burden. Orton RKO'd & eliminated Gabriel & Tarver in quick succession, but Barrett had the last word with Wasteland. Winners: Nexus.
