Match-by-match results and television rating of this edition of NXT.
Show: NXT
Date: May 9, 2012
Location: Roanoke VA
Commentary: Josh Mathews & William Regal
Reported By: Jacob Gilbert
TV Rating:
1. Maxine def. Tamina Snuka via submission.
2. JTG def. Yoshi Tatsu.
3. Percy Watson & Tyson Kidd def. Johnny Curtis & Michael McGillicutty when Watson pinned McGillicutty.
Matt Striker & William Regal open in the ring. Regal mentions that he received a suggestion from John Laurinaitis to hire a security firm to deal with the backstage issues of the last few weeks. That right there is bad news. It's worse when the security hired is in the form of Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks. Uh-oh.......
1. Maxine vs. Tamina Snuka.
Johnny Curtis joins Regal & Josh Mathews at ringside. He's incapable of straight answers. Maxine cut a promo pre-match claiming to have turned over a new leaf. I'll be more convinced if she can trade her fishnet thigh-high's for a more traditional look. That hooker look she has is so last century. Maxine was prepared for the Superfly Splash this time. She rolls out, then applies a modified Dragon Sleeper with a bodyscissors, and Tamina is forced to tap. Winner: Maxine.
Maxine & Curtis are linked together again, but Maxine being so cordial and voluntary can't be too good.......
2. JTG vs. Yoshi Tatsu.
Alicia Fox's idea of a makeover is to get rid of the street gear JTG's worn since his first day in WWE 6 years ago. Traditional tights & boots make a better man, and, it seems a winner, as Regal is impressed. Yoshi misses his roundhouse buzzkick, and JTG hits the Shout-Out for the win, snapping a lengthy losing streak. Winner: JTG.
Reks & Hawkins run into Curtis & Maxine, and admit they're now tight with Laurinaitis. What a shock, considering that Regal, in commentary, has claimed Laurinaitis didn't want anything to do with these clowns. Hawkins produces a spare key and frees the tortured couple. Well, that's because Curtis is in the main event......
Kaitlyn & Percy Watson chat backstage. Derrick Bateman isn't convinced of Percy's innocence after last week, but when Percy goes to try to talk to Derrick, he's gone, and Bateman's been kneecapped, just like Percy and Alex Riley. And with Reks & Hawkins back on the scene..........
3. Percy Watson & Tyson Kidd vs. Johnny Curtis & Michael McGillicutty.
This was supposed to take place two weeks ago, but Watson was ambushed, as I noted above. Very good main event, easily the best on the show. Jumping to the end, Watson got the hot tag, and cleaned house. McGillicutty misses a corner charge, and Percy hits his version of the F5. Winners: Percy Watson & Tyson Kidd.
Post-match, Reks & Hawkins return and take Percy into custody. Tyson tries to protest, and gets punched out by Hawkins. I think someone just gave away the real culprits...........
