Reaction Zone - Laying odds in the Elimination Chamber, part 2Feb 18, 2012 - 12:05:09 AM by Jacob GilbertNow, let's take a look at the Smackdown World title Elimination Chamber match: Champion: Daniel Bryan (6-1). He's become just another heel champion with his promo tonight, and that to me means his title run is on borrowed time. The Contenders (in alphabetical order): Wade Barrett (3-1): Some might've picked the former bare knuckle champ to win the Royal Rumble last month, but the more Barrett talked about how he was so sure he was winning, his chances decreased. The same thing applies here, although some might think he'd be a better matchup for Sheamus in terms of size. Big Show (5-1): The colossus is lucky he didn't get a concussion on Raw, which knocked Randy Orton out of the match. However, a title run now isn't in the cards, if the rumors are true and Shaquille O'Neal awaits in Miami. Great Khali (10-1): Most likely to eliminate Big Show, unless he is eliminated beforehand. Returned at the Rumble, then took storyline brother-in-law Jinder Mahal to the woodshed shortly after on Smackdown. Santino Marella (100-1): Marella won a battle royal to replace Orton, largely because of the Cobra bite finisher, which allows for a "cobra" to replace a "viper" (Orton). However, Santino will not last very long. Cody Rhodes (10-1): The IC champ should be defending his title at the PPV, but Uncreative can't be bothered to program a fresh title feud. So much for Rhodes' intention, however noble it might've been, to put some lustre back into the classic belt, since it'll grow rust from not being defended. Projected order of elimination: 1. Marella. Michael Cole said in commentary the winner of the battle royal would be the #6 entrant. I see Santino lasting no more than about 2 minutes before he's gone. 2. Khali. 3. Rhodes. 4. Big Show. That leaves Barrett & Bryan, two NXT "graduates". Two founding members of the now-defunct Nexus. Both are now heels, but it's a case of who's more of a weasel. Right now, that would be Bryan, and based on this week's Smackdown, Bryan, who's faded out of Booker T's dreaded "Fave Five", is exactly that. The pick: Daniel Bryan. Also at the PPV: We like John Cena over Kane in the ambulance match. Kane was in the last ambulance match, beating Shane McMahon at the Survivor Series in 2003. However, Cena has to go over with a date with The Rock due at Wrestlemania. While we like Tamina Snuka's chances vs. Beth Phoenix, now isn't her time, so the Glamazon will hold the title until Kharma is ready to claim her prize, likely at Mania. |
