Daniel Cormier will get his chance at knocking Jon Jones off the light heavyweight podium after all. Officials announced on Wednesday that Cormier will replace Alexander Gustafsson and face Jones at UFC 178 in the main event.
Gustafsson suffered a knee injury in training, forcing him out of a rematch with "Bones." Last year, Jones earned a decision over Gustafsson. Both fighters picked up wins recently, with Jones defeating Glover Teixeira and Gustafsson topping Jimi Manuwa.
Cormier, who called for a championship match with Jones after defeating Dan Henderson, is a former U.S. Olympic wrestler and ex-Oklahoma State University standout.
