~ Former UFC Heavyweight Title Challenger Jeff “The Snowman” Monson improved to 37-11 when he submitted (North-South Choke) Dave Keeley at 1:41 in the first round. The bout was the main event of the KUMMA’s promotion latest show, titled “Kings of the North.” The event occured last Saturday in Bolton, England. PRIDE veteran Monson has won 3 straight.

~ Heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was released by the UFC over the last few days. Duffee, 24, will first try to overcome a lingering knee injury before he returns to MMA action later this year.

~ John Gunderson (23-7 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is now expected to meet returning UFC lightweight veteran Yves Edwards (38-16-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC) on the un-televised portion of the Spike TV UFC Fight Night 22 event. The event airs next Wednesday from Austin, Texas.

~ Brent Weedman (16-5-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC) and Jacob McClintock (6-1 MMA, 0-1 BFC) will meet at Bellator 30, and the winner earns a berth into the organization’s season-four welterweight tournament. Bellator 30 takes place Sept. 30 at Fourth Street Live! in Louisville, Ky., and Weedman vs. McClintock is part of the night’s FOX Sports Net-televised main card.

~ Bantamweight Clint Godfrey (11-2 MMA, 0-1 WEC) will be unable to face Demetrious Johnson (5-1 MMA, 0-1 WEC) as he has pulled out of their preliminary bout due to a staph infection on September 30 at WEC 51. Johnson is expected to remain on the card which airs on Versus.
