Lucha Underground Executive Producer John Fogelman, who is the founder of FactoryMade Ventures, has taken a much more hands-on role behind the scenes with the ongoing project. Fogelman, who was involved in re-imagining the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this past summer, has become frustrated with the lackadaisical and disorganized approach by AAA personnel as well as the negative feedback online about the tapings.
Fogelman was overheard telling a staff member on the production they need to have a better handle on fans leaking pictures, results and angles from the TV tapings. Management has been sensitive and frustrated by the initial reaction on social media with fans tweeting about the lack of AAA lucha libre and the heavy push of the likes of John Morrison and Chavo Guerrero. There's also been comparisons made to the shows having a Vince Russo writing style.
It is said that the average price for shooting a night of Lucha Underground is approximately $600,000 - $700,000, which is on level with WWE.
"Lucha Undergound" will kick off with a two-hour episode on Wednesday, October 29th on the El Rey Network at 8:00 pm ET/PT.
